Development and Validation of Stability Indicating Rp-hplc and Uv-spectroscopy Methods for Quantitative Determination of Niclosamide in Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms

INTRODUCTION: Niclosamide is in the antihelminthic family especially effective against cestodes that infect humans. It is also used as a pesticide. , Niclosamide is used specifically to treat tapeworms and is not effective against other worms such as pinworms or roundworms. IUPAC name for Niclosamide is 5-chloro-N-(2chloro-4-nitrophenyl)-2-hydroxybenzamide, molecular weight is 327.119 g/mol, and molecular formula for Niclosamide is C13H8Cl2N2O4. Niclosamide uncouples oxidative phosphorylation in the tapeworm. The authors have developed liquid chromatographic method and UV spectroscopy which would serve as rapid and reliable methods for determination of Niclosamide in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage forms .The validation study is carried out as per ICH guideline.
